Established in 2020, Mackie Traditionally Handcrafted is a culmination of the skills, expertise, and passion that the Mackie family has for traditionally handcrafted products.
Using their combined talents, 22yr old William along with his parents Stewart & Janine and younger brother Alistair together create beautifully handcrafted woodwork, metalwork and leather goods using all traditional methods to bring you beautiful products to enjoy for a lifetime.
As a 5th generation Mackie from the Clarence Valley in Northern NSW, William is continuing where his forefathers left off. With several generations of cabinetmakers, craftsmen and wheelwrights before him, he and his family are keeping the tradition of craftsmanship alive.
Having recently completed his woodworking apprentice, William has been honing his craft since the age of 15yrs and has embraced the old crafts of woodturning, blacksmithing and bladesmithing with a passion rarely seen in someone of his generation.
With his eye for detail and a desire to revitalise the lost trades, William creates as he sees, understanding the quality, beauty, and uniqueness of each piece he creates.
His beautiful wood turned products are crafted from reclaimed locally sourced hardwoods and other exotic timbers into individual pieces with unique and distinct character.
With the assistance of his father and their home-built forge, William incorporates his love for timber with the old trades of Blacksmithing and Bladesmithing and together they create high quality hand forged hunting, utility and kitchen knives. Each individually made and hand finished to produce a beautiful and lasting quality piece you will be proud to own.
Stewart, having also been a saddlery apprentice in his youth has passed on his leathercraft skills and techniques to Janine and together they also produce a range of beautifully handmade leather belts, dog collars, dog leads and other specialty items from the best quality leathers that not only look beautiful but will last a lifetime.
Working together as a family, their collective creativeness, passion and love of the old crafts is what makes Mackie Traditionally Handcrafted so unique.
